Today I woke up and my phone told me it was ten minutes later than it actually was. So when I realized this weird little anomaly and reset my phone, it was like I had TRAVELED BACK IN TIME! Maybe that’s why I feel so chipper today. (It may also have something to do with it being the last day of work until next Tuesday, and the fact that next week is a three-day work week, followed by another glorious three-day weekend. YES.)

…. Anyway, speaking of time travel. I am officially in love with Doctor Who. In the last month or two, I’ve gone from seeing one or two episodes and thinking, “Yeah, they’re cool, I guess,” to OWNING the first three seasons (not the old ones from the ’60s, but the current series that started in ’05). We’re about halfway through season 3 now, and I’m pretty sure that Joe and I will be buying each other the next two seasons the minute a special occasion comes up (like our anniversary, only hopefully we’ll come up with some semi-legitimate special occasion that happens BEFORE that, because I don’t want to wait until August for more Doctor Who!).

…. And speaking of special occasions, this weekend is the Scottish Festival in Costa Mesa, and I am STOKED, as usual. It should be nice warm weather, perfect for my mini-kilt! (Pay no attention to the skeezy old dude checking me out in the photo below. Baha.) We go to a few different Scottish Festivals throughout the year, but the Costa Mesa one holds a special place in my heart because it’s where Joe took me on our second date.

…. And speaking of Orange County, I also get to meet up with Erika while we’re down there this weekend — woo! She’s one of the first bloggers I met in real life. (Come to think of it, she might be THE first blogger I met in real life!)

…. And speaking of bloggers, do you know Katherine? I discovered last night that she is pretty spectacular. We “met” on Twitter via Ashley, and then Katherine offered up her sage advice about my new Nook, and then yesterday we got on Gchat and within approximately 38 seconds we were pals. THIS is why I love the blogosphere, people.

…. And speaking of my new Nook: I changed my mind. I’m trading in the first edition for the new touch-screen Nook, which comes out on June 10th. So I’ll let you guys know what I think of it after I get it and have had a chance to use it for a week or so. I’m pretty sure the verdict will be that it’s awesome and I don’t know how I ever lived without it for the first 26 years of my life. (Kind of like the verdict on meeting new bloggers and getting a smart phone, right?)

…. And speaking of smart phones: What was UP with that weirdness this morning where it told me it was 6:30 when it was actually 6:20?

***

And we’ve come full circle in the ridiculousness that is my train of thought. Thank you, and goodbye.

(And speaking of ellipses: my apologies to Ashley for using so many of them in this post, for absolutely no good reason.)

***

I read a lot of fabulous blogs. It’s actually kind of ridiculous, really, how many fabulous blogs I read. And yet, I’m sure there are hundreds more people out there writing fabulous blogs that I’ve never heard of. (And this? Really stresses me out for some reason.) Anyway, today I can only choose five fabulous bloggers, and let me tell you: it’s not an easy task. But here we go. These are just a few of the blogs I’ve come to adore for all their fabulousness (in no particular order):

Shelly from Shelly Talks
I only recently came across Shelly’s blog, and I’m so glad I found her because she is hilarious. She writes about dressing up as the Easter bunny, the fact that she thinks farts are suuuuper funny, and how she takes after her (awesome!) grandma. When I read Shelly’s blog, I can totally imagine us going out for a night of karaoke or planning silly pranks to pull on our husbands — that is, if we lived anywhere near each other. (Dangit! When will we get this blogosphere-teleportation thing figured out?) Anyway, Shelly is fabulous, and if you’re not already reading her blog, you should be.

Erika from Newlyweds on a Budget
Erika is one of a few bloggers I have actually met in real life, so I can definitely vouch for her awesomeness. She started out blogging about her relationships, and now she is an old (okay, new!) married lady who shares great tips for married couples on how to stay within a budget and still enjoy life! She doesn’t just blog about budgeting (although I love learning stuff like how to decorate on a budget), but also the normal “newlywed” topics like trying to stay (or get) fit, or the little things her husband does (both good and slightly annoying). Erika’s blog offers tons of great advice, while also “keepin’ it real” and showing that she loves a good laugh. And oh: when we hang out in real life, there is always wine. (In case you weren’t quite convinced that she is totally fabulous.)

Stephany from Stephany Writes
I’ve been reading Stephany’s blog for a year or two, and she never ceases to impress me with her determination and spirit. She has gone through the ringer with difficult family experiences, but she’s always demonstrating her appreciation for the people in her life who support her (like her awesome marathon-running mom!). She has been writing a series of Letters to her Future Husband, which are honest and heartfelt and full of faith that there is a guy out there waiting with just as much anticipation to meet her as she has for him. Oh, and she recently graduated from college! Woo! Anyway, Stephany is a lovely, incredibly fabulous person in all aspects, and I seriously hope that we find an opportunity to meet in person someday, because I just want to hug the crap out of her!

Brooke from Playing Grown Up
This girl is crafty, y’all. She runs a fantastic etsy shop where you can buy nifty, hand-carved chalkboards or plan an entire photobooth for your next party. Brooke’s blog features a lot of her crafty endeavors, but she also writes about her favorite Bible verses, her adorable dog Buckley, and other various things that make her swoon. She seems to be the kind of person who is wise beyond her years, yet still loves to be silly and enjoy the little things life has to offer. Oh, and her tastes in fashion basically make me want to hunt her down just so I can raid her closet. Yet another fabulous lady you should be following!

Caroline from Kazooisms
I honestly have no idea how I came across this blog, but it is possibly my favorite thing to read, ever. It’s simply a blog full of quotes and anecdotes about this lady’s daughter, Caroline (nicknamed “the kazoo”). She’s four(ish) years old, and aside from being pretty much brilliant, she is also ridiculously funny. I am inspired to keep a similar log when I have children — assuming, of course, that they’re as entertaining as this kid is. I would link to a few of my favorite posts, but it’s pretty safe to say that if you just click through to this blog, you will love anything you read there. Well, okay, this one might be worth calling out. I may or may not have spit out my beverage when I read it. (And if you happen to know anyone in the publishing business, you should convince them to contact this lady and offer her a book deal. I’m not even kidding.) So, while the main character of this blog, Caroline, is not the one actually doing the blogging? I’m using my fifth selection to show you that even a four-year-old can be fabulous!

Okay, I don’t normally do Ten on Tuesday, but this week the questions came from Nora! So I figure I can make an exception for her, because she’s basically awesome.

If you want to read more people’s answers for Nora’s questions this week, click here!

1. What are your thoughts on Valentine’s Day. Do you love it? Hate it?
I enjoy it, but I try not to let it be the One Defining Day to do romantic stuff. This year, I actually made Valentine’s Day stretch out for two whole weeks! (I’ll be posting more about that later this week.)

2. What is your favorite romantic comedy?
I think that’s got to be Benny & Joon. And if you’ve never heard of it? You need to go out and rent it. It’s quirky and adorable. (Runner up is definitely You’ve Got Mail.)

3. Meg Ryan & John Mellencamp: what’s your first reaction?
Uh…are they together? That sounds pretty weird. Although, I kind of always picture her with Tom Hanks even though that only happened in movies, so Meg Ryan & anyone else is weird to me. (Except maybe Billy Crystal.)

4. All time favorite poem or quote?
Maybe I’m supposed to think of a romantic poem or quote, but the first thing that comes to mind whenever I’m asked this question is Robert Frost’s “Fire and Ice”:

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

5. What’s the longest amount of time you’ve gone without sleep? (like consecutive hours).
I think it was about 40 hours! I was a senior in college, and my senior thesis was due at 4 p.m. the next day, but I had a choir performance that morning, so I had to finish it by 8 a.m. instead. I was up all night finishing the paper, went to the performance, and then had dinner with friends afterward before I finally got to sleep!

6. What color ink do you prefer to use?
Purple is my favorite for most everyday stuff, but I like to mix it up sometimes when I’m feeling creative.

7. Share with us a blog that you recently found and fell in love with (and link us!)
Erin B. Inspired is one I recently (FINALLY) got around to checking out, and she’s just lovely. Then there’s Ashley at After Nine to Five, whom I discovered (or maybe she discovered me first?) a couple weeks ago. She’s crafty and clever, AND I just (like JUST NOW) found out that she launched a collaborative blog called Love Without Training Wheels, and I kind of want to beg her to let me write for it!

8. If you could be on a reality TV show which one would you choose?
Hmm. The only one I really watch is The Biggest Loser, and in order to be on that, I’d have to either gain 200 pounds or become a super awesome trainer and kick off that new (kind of annoying) chick Cara. Does Wheel of Fortune count as reality TV? Because I’d LOVE to be on that show!

9. Mountains or Beach?
Considering I live in a city where you can’t possibly get more than five miles FROM the beach, I should probably say beach, right? But I dunno. I could be a mountain girl. When Joe and I went to Colorado last summer, I was constantly in awe of my surroundings. Can I choose both?

10. With the Oscars around the corner, what’s your pick for best picture?
Well, I had to look up the nominees, so that tells you how “into” the Oscars I am, right? I’ve seen three out of the ten movies that are up for Best Picture, so my choice might be different if I’d seen all of them; but I’ll say Toy Story 3, because it’s the only “3″ that’s ever been just as good as the first one, in my opinion.

First of all, let me apologize for disappearing for NINE WHOLE DAYS since my last post. That was totally not my intention, but things have been kind of (read: insanely) hectic lately. Alas, I’m finally able to sit for two minutes and finish up the post I started writing days ago. I have so many other bloggy ideas running through my head, so I’ll hopefully be more present in the next few weeks…but I make no promises!

***

For the third consecutive year, Joe and I made a weekend trip to San Francisco for the Dickens Christmas Fair (and other shenanigans). I didn’t take as many pictures this year, but it was a lovely, wonderful weekend all the same.

The first cool thing that happened was before we even GOT to San Francisco. On our drive up, we saw this (click to enlarge):

(Cool, huh?)

We arrived in SF Friday afternoon and immediately went to the Buena Vista Cafe for a late lunch. I had possibly THE best French toast of my life, with the one exception being my father-in-law’s, which is beyond compare. After our meal, we walked to Pier 39 and moseyed around, doing some window shopping, some actual shopping, and some people watching. We stopped to take a couple of touristy photos in front of Alcatraz:

And then we made the “leisurely” (read: bumper to bumper, 2 mph) trip back out of the City to meet up with Joe’s friend Eric for dinner at BJ’s in a nearby town. Although Eric’s (very) pregnant wife Lisa was unable to make it, we still had an enjoyable time catching up and devouring some good food. And of course we all shared a Ghirardelli pizookie for dessert, because it’s just sinful NOT to, right?

Immediately after dinner, Joe and I made a hop, skip and a jump down to a little place called Hola, where we met up with…

Wait for it…

Wait for it…

BRI! Yes, that was possibly the highlight of my entire December. I had the brightest blue margarita you’ve ever seen in your life:

And the three of us had a great (albeit, at times, inappropriate) conversation. I felt like I’d been friends with Bri for ages, and it was so nice to actually HUG her!

When Hola closed, we walked down the street to another bar, then immediately walked back out because it was super lame. Then we spotted a Starbucks and popped in there for a bit of warmth and more conversation. As the time for goodbyes arrived, I made sure to give Bri six extra hugs for the lovely people who will be flying in from all over to celebrate New Year’s Eve in San Francisco. (You guys are gonna have SO MUCH FUN!!)

So that was Friday. Stay tuned for Saturday: Dickens! Here’s a sneak peek photo just to keep you hangin’.

Lots of things swirling around in my head. Potential post topics are plentiful, but my focus is waning and I can’t figure out what to write about first. In a perfect world (or a perfect blog, at least), I would have split each idea into brilliant, individual posts. But because I don’t see an opening for that kind of time or concentration in the next few days, I need to get it all out now before it becomes irrelevant or I simply forget. So please forgive the disjointedness (and length) of this post, and let’s just pretend it’s one of those clever, intentionally-random bullet posts. (Update: I discovered something at least slightly clever once I wrote it all out, hence the titles for each section. Small victories, guys.)

Run

First things first: Last week I mentioned wanting to write about my 11-minute mile. I was going to tell you about how energized I felt, how empowering it was to finish the first lap and realize I still had more in me. And then I was going to tell you that on the second lap, I couldn’t stop smiling because for the first time ever, I was running a second lap which was just as strong as the first, and I knew I could go for a third. And I was going to tell you that when I was rounding the last turn of my fourth lap, I started laughing at myself because in my mind I was saying, “Take THAT, asthma!” — and I almost said it out loud. And now, I want to also tell you that yesterday at the gym, I ran at 5 mph for 15 minutes straight, which is a major record for little asthmatic me, and once again I was grinning ear to ear like a big dope and I didn’t even care because, you guys?! I AM A RUNNER. It’s official. And never in my life did I think I could say those words. Being athletic was something I gave up on back in middle school when I realized that trying to play my flute and march in a straight line at the same time seemed a lofty fitness goal. (Really, it’s a wonder I’m not 300 pounds by now.) All this to say, I wanted to tell these stories on my running progress in a much cooler, much more creative way, but this will have to do.

Walk

Last Saturday, my college roommate Rachel hosted a breast cancer benefit party for her cousin Becca who is 27 years old and has had breast cancer TWICE. They were raising money for an upcoming Avon Walk-a-Thon, so there were tons of raffle prizes, a silent auction, and breast-cancer-themed goodies for sale. I wanted to write a whole post about this event, because it was a blast! And because when it came time to draw winners for all the raffle prizes, there were some pretty hilarious occurrences. But to sum it up, I’ll tell you that Joe and I won SIX out of the 45 prizes. We split up our raffle tickets, each of us putting about 40 in the various bags coordinated with their prizes. The prizes included board games, kids’ toys, body lotions, and a few, uh…sexier items. See, Rachel has an aunt who runs some kind of erotic website/store, so she donated all kinds of products like a sexy board game called “Truth, Dare or Chocolate” and Kama Sutra kissable body powders. On the spectrum of “sex toys” it was all relatively tame, and some of it was just sets of bubble bath and lotion that smelled romantic. But anyway, I obviously put a few tickets in for some of those prizes…and so did Joe. So imagine the uproarious hilarity when the raffle tickets were being called out and I won not one, not two, but THREE of the game-type prizes…and then Joe proceeded to be the holder of the tickets which were drawn for not one, not two, but THREE of the sexy-type prizes. His face was beet red, everyone was pointing and laughing…and I never loved my husband more than I did at that moment. He kept saying, “She told me to put the ticket in there!” or, “Hey, we both win with this one!” It was really great. And be on the lookout for some upcoming posts wherein I will tell you a little about each of the things we won, and how we like them. *wink wink* (It’s very likely they’ll end up being password-protected…for pretty obvious reasons.)

Oh, and check this out: the guest of honor at the benefit party has a blog! Show some love, would ya? She’s over at Becca Beats Breast Cancer.

Fly

Last but not least: a wedding. I know, you thought I was done blogging about wedding stuff, right? Well, it’s not about mine. It’s about Cari‘s. You probably know by now that I’m making jewelry for her wedding. But what you may not know is that Cari lives in North Dakota. She lives in North Dakota, and she invited me to her wedding, and I want to go. Let me rephrase that. A girl I’ve never met in person, who I only know through blogging and the occasional Gchat, has invited me to her wedding on the other side of the country, and I seriously want to go. And yeah…it’s probably crazy, and it’s probably not the wisest use of my money, and maybe it’ll be the only time we ever actually get to exist in the same time zone together so what the heck is the point anyway if we’re not going to be able to cultivate a “real life” friendship, and maybe I won’t even get to talk to her for more than three minutes because she’ll be a little preoccupied with, you know, GETTING MARRIED and all, so how stupid could I possibly BE to want to spend hundreds of dollars to get on a plane to spend a day and a half in a strange place with a bunch of people I don’t know only to watch a girl I’m only cyber-friends with say “I do” and then get whisked away to her honeymoon having barely made eye contact with me…and — how crazy am I, really? But here’s how I see it: All that stuff about how Cari is only my cyber-friend and we may never have a “real” face-to-face type of friendship? It’s either complete bull, or all the time I’ve spent in the last year on blogging, getting to know some incredible girls all over the continent, sharing deep, emotional stuff and giving and receiving advice and comfort — it’s all a farce, it’s meaningless, and there’s no point in pursuing it anymore.

So you tell me: which is it? Should I consider it worthwhile to travel 2,000 miles to attend Cari’s wedding, or should I forget it and quit investing emotional energy in friendships with a bunch of people I will probably never be able to have coffee with on a random Tuesday afternoon? And, okay, I know there’s more to this decision than whether or not my blog friends are “real” friends. The financial aspect of it is really significant, and the fact that we probably wouldn’t have a lot of time to talk does matter to me. I guess I’m just looking for some input all around on this one. I’ll tell you that I’ve found some really great deals in terms of airfare and hotels, and I do have enough money in savings to do this (but it’s savings that, eventually, are meant to become an “emergency fund” like for a tire blowout or pneumonia, which I keep depleting to buy Christmas gifts and big-ticket items like this one).

What do you think about…all of it?

[Update:] I realized that it might sound like I’m seriously considering the possibility that my blog friendships aren’t real or worthwhile, and I want to make sure that you guys know I don’t feel that way at all. I was mostly going into an extreme-point-of-view situation, considering what the devil’s advocate (or people outside of blogging who may not “get” it) might say about this decision. I hope that makes sense, but please feel free to respond or email me if I’ve hurt your feelings in any way! I love you all.

So last weekend while we were visiting my parents in the desert, my mom asked if I wanted to go to Stars on Ice in San Diego, and I said, “HECK YES.” It has been probably six or eight years since the last time I got to go, and frankly I don’t think either of us expected to be able to go again.

But she found a great deal online, where she can get $15 tickets if she gets a group of 4-8 people to sign up together, and you just don’t pass up an opportunity like that. I don’t, anyway.

Which is why I just realized that I can’t go to Bloggers in Sin City in May. See, Stars on Ice is May 22nd, right smack dab in the middle of the Vegas meetup extravaganza. And as much as the thought of meeting a hundred amazing bloggers from across the continent makes me all giddy and happy inside…it doesn’t even come CLOSE to taking priority over an evening watching the most amazing ice skaters twirl and spin in a huge stadium with my mom.

I’m sorry, guys. But you understand, right? There will be other meetups. There HAVE to be, because I am determined to meet some of you in person, if only to prove to my friends that there are NORMAL people on the internet, and that blogging is sooo the new form of having pen-pals.

And as much as it bums me out that I definitely won’t be going to Vegas in May, I gotta admit that I was on the fence anyway (because of finances, stress, etc). And I am that much MORE excited to share an evening with my mom, doing something together that holds a lot of significance and nostalgia in both our hearts. Call me a mama’s girl if you want. It’s going to be fun. And I will be sure to take pictures and write an outstanding post about What I Did While You Punks Were in Vegas.

Tell me: Are you going to Bloggers in Sin City?

If so, give hugs for me, would ya? And if not, what are you doing that weekend?

Wanna come to San Diego and watch some people in glittery spandex dance around on ice?

(Seriously. You’re SO invited.)

Today I’m deciding to focus on love. Today is National Wear Red Day, where people all over the country don red shirts/shoes/dresses/whatever in support of the fight against heart disease, which is the #1 health threat for women. Not only am I wearing red today, but I’m also going to be eating juicy red strawberries at a work-sponsored luncheon today. Yum!

Anyway, I thought I’d make today’s post love-themed, so here we go!

***

I think by now, most people in the 20-something blogosphere have heard about the awesomeness that is the Love Harder campaign. But have you read the blog? Well, for the first two weeks of February (which, yeah, I know, started almost a week ago), a few crafty people are promoting their stuff with special deals, and are donating a portion of proceeds to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

And guess what?

I’m one of them! Yeah, I FINALLY got my act together (a little) and listed a few Valentiney things in my etsy shop. Go here for details on all the great Love Harder specials going on! Oh, and if you don’t like any of the measly three items I’ve listed, stay tuned because I’m hoping to put up a few more things soon.

***

Have you heard about Ashalah‘s “Be My (Blog) Valentine” project? Well, I signed up (even though, in retrospect, I think it might’ve been geared more toward single people?), and I’m excited to send a little something to my secret valentine. But I need some ideas! What cute/fun/silly things can I mail that won’t get wrecked or smelly or squished, and also cost me less than $20?

And if you happen to be visiting here because you got ME as your valentine? Ooh! I’m so excited. Anything you send me will probably make me squeal with glee. If you need ideas, though, here are a couple of things I love:

Bookmarks

Fun/unique card decks

Hair pretties

Monogrammed stationery (“C”)

Journals

4×6 Recipe cards

Surprise me!

***

One of my newest bloggy pals from Only One Way Down told us recently about a little girl, Ella, who is going through some pretty tough medical issues. She’s eight months old, and could really use some prayers of love, healing and peace for her family through this incredibly trying ordeal. Updates will be posted here as news comes in.

***

And lastly, this week Amy shared a great, thought-provoking post about saying, “I love you.” I think you should read it.

Reason #583,167 that I love my husband — He lets me be delusional from time to time. Case in point, the following gchat conversation:

Me: hey, maybe the power will go out today from all the thunder.
Joe: you shouldn’t want that…the response is to evacuate
Me: and go home!
Joe: no, not really — wait for power to be restored
Me: not if it looks like it’ll be a long time. cuz they don’t want everyone charging downtime
Joe: that also means we get paid less, and most people are on salary
Me: wah. quit being so practical.
Joe: sorry. ahem yes! They will let us go! and give us an automatic raise
Me: yay!!

***

Just a quick post today, because I’ve got a lot going on, and because I want to remind you of two things:

1) Make sure you enter my giveaway and tell your friends! There are four different prizes and four ways to win!
2) I promised you a video post about Romania, and it’s coming soon! I’m still open to ideas about what you want to see there, so comment on this post and your suggestion might make it in!

***

And lastly, but most CERTAINLY not leastly:

LiLu and about 30 other amazing bloggers have teamed up this week in support of another blogger who is dealing with a really tough situation — her boyfriend has been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Go here (or here or here or here and probably a bunch of other places) to see the kind of support that is circulating all over the blogosphere for Brandy today. This kind of thing is the reason I love blogging.

On this day one year ago, I decided to ditch my blog at Vox and start a brand new one at Blogger. (And, a few months after that, I transferred everything to WordPress. But let’s pretend not to notice my major fickleness in choosing blog locations.)

It feels kind of weird to say it’s my “one-year” anniversary of blogging, because I’ve really been doing it for over eight years. But it wasn’t until a year ago that I started to get serious about the social aspect of blogging. The making connections with other bloggers, and allowing those connections to blossom into genuine friendships.

And I can’t even tell you how absolutely priceless this whole blogging thing (and all of YOU) has become to me.

But rather than drone on about all the sappy reasons I love blogging (cuz THAT could go on for days), how about a celebratory little thing called…

A GIVEAWAY!

Now, I’ve got a few fun items for this giveaway, but it’s gonna require a tiny bit of work from you guys. So first I’ll list the items I’ll be giving away, and then we’ll talk about how to win.

***

The Prizes:

A sock zombie! Remember how I won one of the prizes for completing NaBloPoMo in November? Well, my sock zombie finally arrived, so I’m giving it away!

A handmade piece of jewelry, designed by me especially for the winner!

A $15 Starbucks gift card and a copy of The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (which, if you haven’t read, YOU NEED TO)!

aaaaand…

A mystery prize!

***

How To Win:

To win the sock zombie, leave a comment asking me any question you’re dying to know about me. The winner will be chosen with the random number generator, and ALL of your questions will be answered when the winners are announced.

To win the jewelry, leave a comment telling me which type of jewelry you wear most often (or like the best) between earrings, necklaces or bracelets; and also tell me what color(s), styles or types of material (stones, crystals, wood, etc.) you would most like to see in your jewelry. The winner will be chosen with the random number generator, and I will make your jewelry according to your specifications!

To win the Starbucks gift card and the copy of Guernsey, write a post on your own blog following the prompt below. Leave a comment here with a link to your post; then I’ll choose my favorite one, and that person will win this prize. (Thanks to Cari for the idea to have a writing prompt as part of a giveaway!)

Prompt: Tell me about a time when blogging changed your life. It can be as long or short as you want, and heck — it can be fiction or autobiographical. I’m not picky.

For the mystery prize, I will put each and every entry into the pool and will use the random number generator to pick the winner. So, if you enter for all three specific prizes, you will be entered three times for this mystery prize as well.

But that’s not all. One more way you can enter to win the mystery prize is to tweet about this giveaway, and leave a comment here with a link to your tweet.

***

So let’s sum it up. You can enter to win ANY and ALL of the prizes based on the criteria above, and for the mystery prize you can have up to four entries! Pretty cool, huh?

Now, I know this is a pretty loaded giveaway here, so I’m going to give you two weeks to get your butts in gear and submit your entries. Your time will be up at midnight (PST) on Monday, February 1st, and I will announce the winners on Thursday, February 4th.

Ready…GO!

Wow, you guys. So much love!

This is the reason that I blog. Seriously. The comments from yesterday’s post were all so meaningful, so encouraging and so exactly what I needed to get my head in the right place. Not that I’m just magically there already, of course. But I feel so much better knowing that I have a group of amazing people (both near and far) who not only know what I’m going through but want to be here for me as I sort it out.

Thank you all so much for your kind and thoughtful words. I have definitely re-read them multiple times today, because I’m still feeling a lot of that my-job-is-the-devil stuff (thanks to my own slip-up, but also my boss’s buttheadedness), and your comments are helping me to focus on the good things even in the middle of the insanity that has been happening today.

I’ll make it through this. And any time I start to question that fact, I can turn back to your words.

Did I mention “thank you”?! Seriously, you’re all AWESOME and I love you forever, and…

I think you get the point.

***

Now, on a completely and totally unrelated note.

I’ve been reminiscing about Romania this week, and I had a brilliant idea while I was in the middle of telling Kyla about it: I could do a VLOG POST where I speak a little Romanian for you guys — you know, to show off let you hear how beautiful the language is!

And then as I was considering what exactly I could SAY in Romanian, or in this video in general, I thought:

Why don’t I let my lovely readers help me out?

So here’s the plan.

Tell me what you want to see in this video. Do you want me to say a particular word/phrase/sentence in Romanian? Do you want to see some of my cool souvenirs? Or do you want to know any specifics about my experience there, my likes and dislikes, etc.?

Basically, YOU tell me how this vlog should be composed.

As soon as I have a good amount of suggestions, I’ll get to work on it. My goal will be to have it published no later than Tuesday, but I make no guarantees.

And if you have NO idea why I’m babbling on and on about Romania, here’s a couple of places where I’ve blogged about my experiences there.

So, ask away!

*Oh, and if you’re wondering what Mulţumesc foarte mult! means, I guess you’ll just have to leave a comment asking, so I can tell you in my vlog post! Muhahaha…
