About Me
Probably Tabitha is the blog of a 20-something girl who is a wife, a sister, a daughter, an employee, a writer, an artist, and a friend. (And obviously, she’s also really cheesy.)
About the girl:
Tabitha is 26 years old, married to the love of her life, and currently living in the beautiful Santa Barbara area. Her husband, Joe, is a constant source of encouragement, laughter, excitement, and inventiveness. He’s goofy, but a genius. He’s sarcastic, but incredibly supportive. He’s the Tarzan to her Jane (but slightly less hairy).
Tabitha works as a “senior administrative assistant” for a large company: basically, she’s a secretary. She’s really sorry to her wonderful college professors who may read this and think, “All my hard work, tests, and assignments and she’s not writing, editing OR teaching? What a waste.” But she won’t be a secretary forever — that’s a promise.
While she knows that Santa Barbara is probably the most perfect place a person could ever dream of living, she tends to take it for granted, and sometimes even grumble at its strange weather patterns. See, Tabitha grew up in a desert. Hot, dry, sunny, summery — pretty much all the time. As much as she complained about the heat as a kid, Tabitha has come to terms with the fact that she’s a desert rat at heart. She’ll take 100 degrees over 60 any day.
About the blog:
Tabitha has been writing for as long as she can remember, though she still hasn’t managed to make a career of it (again: obviously). It might have something to do with her compulsion to go off on tangents, or possibly her stubbornness when it comes to what she’s asked to write. She wrote for both her high school and college newspapers, and she avoided stories which held no interest for her. Sports, politics, and paving the school parking lot? No thanks. But when she found topics she liked or ones in which she had even the slightest vested interest, her writing flourished.
This is why today, she blogs. She gets to write about whatever she wants, whenever she pleases, and in any style or form of her choosing — including composing a whole bio about herself in third person, which is totally conceited, isn’t it? Maybe someday she’ll be able to make a living this way, but she’s not exactly holding her breath.
A few other things about Tabitha:
- She loves making beaded jewelry. She’s got one of those fancy Etsy shops, but is a slacker and hasn’t put a whole lot of stuff up there yet. She also has a website/bead blog called Wearable Joy (which is, at the present time, totally inactive. She’ll work on that, eventually).
- She collects journals. It’s not exactly a deliberate collection; she just has this compulsion to buy them when she sees a unique one in the book store. She’ll picture what sort of stuff she can fill them with — and sometimes she actually does it.
- Three things she loves to do, in addition to writing, that she can’t seem to make into careers: singing, editing, and line dancing.
- She likes to be social, but it wears her out. She needs solitude to refuel.
- She hates really strong wind, and she’s not a fan of driving with the windows down, unless her hair is securely fastened and not whipping her in the face.
- Sometimes she feels really pretty, and other times, she thinks that her face is totally weird.
- Given the chance, she’ll travel just about anywhere.
- She finds enjoyment in silly little things, like realizing this page is approaching 500 words, and making it there without going over. (Yay!) Update: It’s more than 500 words now, but the first draft was right there!

Hi Tabitha!
Would love to get your blog posts delivered via email! If not, I can just add you to my google reader, no worries.
From one English major blogger to another (I’m a marketing manager!), I agree, blogging is definitely the answer to our prayers (but unfortunately, not our debt!!)

Holy. English degree, singing and editing – I think we’re going to get along famously
Note to self: wear glasses when reading people’s About pages. I thought that said “I HAVE really strong wind” and thought “ooh, personal!” before seeing it properly. Second note to self: laughing by yourself at your own (however unintentional) fart jokes does not make you cool.
Yesss! And holy hilarity, I read “hate” and “have” wrong on a pretty much DAILY basis. BUT: Don’t put it past me to actually put something like “I have really strong wind.” in my About Me. I’m competing for Queen of TMI around here, for serious.
Also. Who cares if laughing at your own fart joke doesn’t make you cool? You’re probably cool enough already. And I definitely laughed WAY out loud reading about how my non-fart joke made you laugh.
Yes. We are so friends.
Any chance you’ll be joining Kyla and the other bloggers at the Vegas meetup everyone’s tweeting about?
Woo!

High five for overpriced English degrees! Also, I’m really excited about your etsy shop.
LOL I just visited this page for the first time since I first started reading a couple of months ago, and after today’s post? Eyes TOTALLY SAW “I have really strong wind” AGAIN!!
I’ve been browsing around your blog while simultaneously thinking, “yay, a new person to stalk!” Then I read the first sentence on this page…
I’ll just have to settle with Blog stalking you instead.
Tarzan wasn’t hairy. Was Jane?
Well, at least in the Disney Tarzan movie, he had a lot of hair on his head…and my husband…doesn’t.
Thanks for stopping by!
This is hilarious. I followed a link to your blog from Molly Ford’s smart-pretty-awkward blog. Your writing is so full of voice – I hope you can make a career of it someday!

Hi fellow sarcastic IITGIer!
I used to live in Ventura. I HATED SoCal.
But now I’m back in the NW and I look back on it fondly.
So, please enjoy a blenders in the grass for me, mmmkay?
You seem so interesting! I just moved back from Las Vegas. I agree with you about Santa Barbara! Except, I am not a desert girl! Too hot! hehe.
I love writing, but I don’t have a degree or anything. It has always been a dream of mine, to have some kind of degree…but, babies and marriage came before all that. So for now…motherhood is my career!
Anyhoo…Hii! I like you! You seem quirky! I hope to read more entries from you! Keep them coming!
