The weekend, bulleted.
February 22, 2010
Good MOHHHHH-nin’ Nevah-land!*
Just a quick little bulleted post to sum up my weekend, since it’s Monday and all the cool kids are doing it.
- On Friday, we found out that Joe didn’t get the Monterey job. It was a bit of a bummer, but we both realized it would’ve been a tough move financially, and we were thankful for the very clear answer from God that it wasn’t the direction we should be heading right now.
- Also on Friday, I posted about my first time, and found out (kinda) who the anonymous asker of the question was. Turns out she’s an old classmate from college who was just a little shy. Anyway, I’m glad everyone who asked for the password seemed to enjoy the story!
- On Saturday, I made my stuffed bell peppers again, this time for a bunch of people and with a few more tweaks. And unless they were all lying to me, it was a delicious hit!
- Also on Saturday, the friends we had over for dinner played some fun games with us, and even though I lost ALL of them, I had a blast. It may have been the Smirnoff Ice(s), the wine and the Pama-champagne concoction. Maybe.
- On Sunday, we had lunch with some of our church/small-group friends, and then spent the afternoon relaxing. I also went to the nail salon to get a much-needed pedicure, only to find that they were closed. So, in lieu of pretty toenails, I went to Ross to find a green outfit for my soon-to-be-sister-in-law’s bachelorette party. (I found three.)
- Also on Sunday, I made the third piece of jewelry for Cari‘s wedding — a bracelet for the flower girl! Technically, I guess it was the third-and-a-halfth piece, because I’ve made two pairs of earrings, that bracelet, and I STARTED a necklace. Anyway, it’s been so much fun! And the stuff I’m making is so pretty, I wish I could keep it all myself.
- On Monday (you know, today), I woke up dreading 11 AM. Because at 11 AM, I had to go in for my annual pap smear. But at 11:20 AM, when it was all over, I felt triumphant. Because, for one thing, I didn’t cry. And secondly, I didn’t even WANT to! It was uncomfortable, as I’m sure it will always be, but I didn’t want to kill anyone this time, and I call that a success.
- Also on Monday (still, also, today), and also while I was at the gynecologist’s office, I got weighed for their dumb old records (raise your hand if you thought there were one too many “alsos” in that sentence). And that dumb old scale told me some really DUMB news: I weigh more than I have in about four years. I weigh almost thirty pounds more than my (self-prescribed) ideal weight. And that is just dumb, and lame, and not cool, and DID make me want to cry a little. So this week? I’m hitting the gym, and HARD.
How was your weekend?
*I realize it’s totally NOT morning anymore, but when I started this post, it totally WAS. Also? Name that movie! (Or go here if you’re clueless. It should start at about 1:09.)

It’s Hook, of course! =D
And, oh-my-goodness, you were busy! But it seems like it was a good sort of busy.
My weekend involved the creation of Irish Car Bomb cupcakes and grading too many papers. I think your weekend wins, even if it was followed up with a Monday pap smear.
Yay! You got it.
And that means you’ll probably appreciate the fact that I spent like 20 minutes this morning trying to find a video that had that clip from the movie in it, and THEN figuring out how to link to it so that the video would start playing right at the part when that happens.
Also — Irish Car Bomb cupcakes?! Share the recipe! (And then make it magically 30 calories per cake so that I can eat it and NOT gain any more weight!)
That is a really full weekend, but sounds like lots of fun. Not the pap smear, those are never fun. Will you post pictures of the jewelry, I always love seeing what other people are making. Also, can you send me the link for your etsy site? I am sorry that Joe didn’t get the job, but I truly believe that this year will bring you many amazing opportunities.
I was clueless. But after seeing that it was Hook, I just thought “Duh.”
I want the password! I’ve been so tied up with the babe I missed your cue..
it sounds like a pretty good weekend.
thank you so much for all your work on this jewelry. i’m so excited to see all of it, really. it’s going to be so amazing.
I never understand why people get so uncomfortable, squirmish, even hysterical about going to the doctor or dentist. Sure, no one really wants to do it, but is it really that bad? But, I know you’re not alone with the fear, so I guess I should be a little more sensitive, eh?
And yeah, I’d say it’s a good day when you don’t want to kill someone. =)
I’m not usually one to have an issue with going to the doctor or dentist, but my first pap smear was a different story. It WAS really that bad. Go here if you don’t believe me: http://probablytabitha.com/2009/02/26/tmi-thursday-snap-crackle-pap/
A pap smear is enough to make anybody’s day dreary. The weekend, however sounds quite lovely and well deserved!
Oh gosh I hope you have a woman for your pap smears. I get mine at my GPs and it’s ALWAYS weird having a guy poking around down there. *Shudder*
The weekend however sounded quite wonderful – I’d love to see the jewellery you made
