Happy Blogoversary to Meeee!
On this day one year ago, I decided to ditch my blog at Vox and start a brand new one at Blogger. (And, a few months after that, I transferred everything to WordPress. But let’s pretend not to notice my major fickleness in choosing blog locations.)
It feels kind of weird to say it’s my “one-year” anniversary of blogging, because I’ve really been doing it for over eight years. But it wasn’t until a year ago that I started to get serious about the social aspect of blogging. The making connections with other bloggers, and allowing those connections to blossom into genuine friendships.
And I can’t even tell you how absolutely priceless this whole blogging thing (and all of YOU) has become to me.
But rather than drone on about all the sappy reasons I love blogging (cuz THAT could go on for days), how about a celebratory little thing called…

Now, I’ve got a few fun items for this giveaway, but it’s gonna require a tiny bit of work from you guys. So first I’ll list the items I’ll be giving away, and then we’ll talk about how to win.

How To Win:

Okay, okay, I’ll be nice and ask something a little more harmless, which you’ve likely already blogged about long ago, so forgive me if I’m being redundant: how did you meet Joe, and what were your first thoughts upon meeting him/first getting to know him?
2. This sounded like a fun question to answer, so I’m going for it anyway. But. If I wind up being randomly selected for this one, please feel free to choose again, as I don’t have pierced ears!
Like makeup, I wear jewelry sparingly– typically donning on a necklace when I’m dressed up for special occasions. Sometimes I’ll wear a bracelet when the mood strikes, which usually amounts to a couple times a year. Probably the only piece of jewelry I would wear with any regularity is rings, but even then, I soon tire of the feeling of something foreign around my fingers, and stop (this is part of why Allan and I don’t wear our wedding rings, the size mismatches notwithstanding). As for what types/styles: for bracelets I tend to prefer strings of round stones, such as pearls. I’m not much for the small chain types, mostly because I fear they’ll be flimsy– I like having something more substantial and *there* on my wrists if I’m going to wear them. For rings, I like just about any shiny colorful gemstone, mostly green emeralds, because that is my and Todd’s birthstone

I generally wear my wedding rings, my cross inside a heart necklace, my small hoop earrings, and my watch (is a watch considered jewelry?). I occasionally alternate other rings, necklaces and occasionally a bracelet. I prefer gold jewelry. So far, I love everything I’ve seen you make.
How do you find time to write a post like this on a work day?
I thought it would be fun to be in the drawing for the mystery prize, but I’m too lazy/busy to work on the other ways of entering, so these two methods will have to suffice.

Happy blogoversary! I know how you feel – I’ve been blogging for years and years too but I only got “serious” about it in… October maybe?
Now. Earings!! Most often I wear earrings and necklaces, I like stones and crystals and colour, so I can match them with what I’m wearing, or neutrals (white, black, cream) because they go with anything!

entry for # 2: I defnitely wear earrings and rings everyday. Lately I’ve been phoning it in with regards to the earrings I wear: studs. Boring, round studs. But I like to find some studs that have some color/design/shape to them (which is why I love etsy). Favorite colors: white, black, blue, pink and green.
I do love me some bracelets to, though. I guess I don’t wear them a lot because I don’t have enough variety in the colors that I own. I have a lot of blue & silver and black/white combos but nothing that really pops, you know?

I mistakenly thought you were gonna give us earrings (made of our preferred stone) and that we had to enter with a general comment about our favorite jewelry– not realizing they were supposed to be specs for you! #2 I have a lot of jewelry and love all sorts of jewelry. I love really different unique pieces. I think my favorite would be be rings though. I love iridescent stones and big bold things.
I have totally weird allergies…for example I’m allergic to: Nickle, gold, copper, bronze… The only things I am not allergic to are stainless steel, platinum, and pure sterling silver.
In this way, I hardly ever change my earrings because well – I’ve found ones I a not allergic to and I am keeping them! Except that I got them when I was 12. I’ve been on the look out for little (in diameter but also just very thin and simple) stainless steel or sterling silver hoops with single stone or bead on them. I love fresh water pearls or that orange stone (what is that one called? anyone? anyone?).

Topaz? That’s the only orange stone that comes to mind.
Funny you say that, as I always associate “blue” with topaz, as well as sapphires. But I guess both gemstones can come in a variety of colors. I think of tourmaline when I think of orange/yellow gemstones.
I love earrings– the bigger the better usually. Usually I go with just metal, or fun enamel.

I love long silver necklaces. They make any outfit a little rockin’.
Okay. Here is my situation.
I was very intimidated by this giveaway because I was all HOLY SHIT I LOVE HANDMADE JEWELRY and then I wasn’t sure what I wanted because I love all jewelries and I suffer from massive indecision (as noted by the fact that I *still* haven’t named my blog).
But then! This morning, I had an epiphany.
I need some earrings. Some purple earrings. Maybe purple & black earrings. I don’t really care what else beyond that as long as they are pretty and dangly.
Here is why:
Last summer, my friend was into crafting hardcore. And she was making some earrings, but due to whatever chemicals involved, she had to do it outside. And managed to lock herself out on her patio on the hottest day of the summer. And so decided that these were bad luck earrings. And gave them to me.
The first day I wore them, I almost choked on a bagel. Which would have been tragic. But they were cute and I don’t own a lot of purple, but the stuff I do? needs some accessorizing. I’ve worn them without incident, sure, but then on Monday of this week, I wore them again. And then I got yelled at by a client.
So despite the fact that I like these earrings, I think it would be most beneficial if I did not wear them anymore.
So, if I win, I would like a pair of purple earrings. If I don’t win, maybe I will commission you to make me some anyway. But I’m cheap and poor so I would prefer to just win them, obviously.

1. I would like to know your favorite thing about God, and why… perhaps a story? I love hearing cool things and stories about people and how they respond to and their relationship with God.
2. I would LOVE a bracelet. I always loose earrings, necklaces always seem to break, but bracelets are fun, fashionable and for some reason, one of the few types of jewelry I manage to keep and wear. I love bright and fun colors, something that could be an accent piece to an otherwise dull outfit.

2) I am not big on jewelry, but I do have my favs. I LOVE necklaces. Not so big on earrings or bracelets. I like necklaces that have a vintage feel that is not too fancy. More metals and uniques stones (like turquoise) is what I like best. Also anything with some kind of saying or monogram is nice too.
