Year-end business.

December 31, 2009

Wow…it’s the last day of the year. It’s the last day of the tenth YEAR of the millennium. It’s…

Okay, you get the picture.

I’m just baffled, is all. I can’t believe how quickly the years have flown. I can’t believe that ten years ago, I was a freshman in high school. I had never been kissed. I had no idea what a “blog” was, nor did I ever suspect I would start writing in a place so public, so open to anyone and everyone, about the smallest details of my life. And I couldn’t have begun to imagine how rewarding that very activity would become for me.

Anyway, I’ll spare the sappy recap. You all know it’s been a crazy year of ups and downs, and how “I wouldn’t have changed anything for the world” and all that crap totally genuine stuff. I’ve got to be perfectly honest: this week away from blogging has been pretty rejuvenating. That’s not to say that blogging is stressful or draining or anything. In fact, I’m sure there have been moments every day since my last post that something happened which I would’ve loved to document here. But the somewhat unintentional vacation I’ve taken has been good. Less time spent in front of a screen, and more time spent with my loved ones. Totally worth it.

And I really wasn’t even feeling terribly motivated or inspired to write this post…just wanted to close out the year in some “official” manner, I guess.

It’s the end of the most memorable year of my life. And I hope that tomorrow will be the beginning of the most memorable year of my life. Actually, I just read a post I wrote (on my ancient blog, in the pre-Google-Reader-and-20-SB kinda days) on December 31, 2008. One year ago, and yet it sort of feels like an eternity.

I wrote:

…I’m really looking forward to what 2009 will bring. All the surprises, memories to be made, lessons to learn, trials, time shared with friends and loved ones, successes and failures…all of it. It’s going to be a good year. And I have a sneaking suspicion that 2010 will start off EVEN BETTER. *sneaky grin* Oh yeah…life is good.

And when I read that just now, I laughed. Because at the end of last year, Joe and I were looking at a wedding date of January 16, 2010. Can you IMAGINE if I had waited that long? I would be going insane right now. But I still stand by last year’s sneaking suspicion — 2010 is going to be wonderful.

Assuming, of course, that I don’t keel over and DIE tonight from my second, and infinitely more painful than the first, bladder infection. Blech. (Side note: Just how much blood in my pee constitutes okay-now-it’s-time-to-panic mode? Cuz OW, and EW, and stuff.)

And on a lighter note — have you entered my Caption Contest yet? Come on, people! I need more suggestions…especially if I’m gonna consider giving away a PRIZE!

I’ll finish off this post with a rather prophetic line, which I wrote in the same year-end post quoted above, from 12/31/08:

Stick around, cuz I’m sure there will be plenty more musings to come, only…probably more ridiculous, weird, funny, or just plain silly.

See that? I said PROBABLY! And now I’m probablytabitha.com. Wow! Er…um…okay. Not that cool, probably.

Heh.

You HAVE had an interesting year! But I don’t think you should take too many blog vacations, okay? :)

And the bladder infection? Go to the doctor right away, missy!

Seconded! I had one earlier in the year and they gave me antibiotics and this weird stuff that was supposed to make it not burn when you, you know, go… except it made everything come out GLOWING orange and I threw up every time I took it, so make sure you don’t get that one!!

Feel better – and I can’t wait to see what 2010 brings for you :)

Our initial plan was to be married the September that just passed- and instead we planned our wedding in four months. It was a crush but I’m so glad that we did it this way- I can’t imagine if we’d waited until this year! Who know what would have happened!

And I’m with you- not blogging for a while has made me all buzzy and refreshed. My batteries are officially recharged!
