20SB Blog Swap: Featuring Cameron of Bag Stranded

July 22, 2009

Hey folks! It’s 20Something Bloggers’ 5th Blog Swap event today, so I’m not here. Instead, Cameron Smith of Bag Stranded is sharing a post here, so check it out! Then go read my post on his blog, and be sure to check out his blog, too! Oh, and if you’re a 20-something blogger, join the fun! Go here and sign up, so you can play in the next blog swap. Thanks! Here’s Cameron.

Hi there. My name is Cameron Smith and I am collaborating with Tabitha today for the 20 Something Bloggers Blog Swap. If you really miss her, you can go and check her out for the day at Bag Stranded. That, by the way, is the little blog that I own and operate (and if you can figure out where the name comes from, you can win a deluxe Bag Stranded CD set). Tabitha seemed like she wanted me to just write a little introduction about me and my blog instead of droning on and on like I tend to do on my blog. So, I will oblige.

Like I said, my name is Cameron. I am 28 years old, married, father of two children (though I am convinced that both were spawned from hell without me knowing about it) whom I love dearly. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah and yes, what you are thinking is true. But, I still should have clarified that I am only married to one woman. I work as a writer, but not the cool kind that sits in a studio apartment with a typewriter and a cigarette and struggles to look for just the right word to describe the woman’s face as she walks into the private investigator’s office. No, I write ad copy and things of the sort. But I burn up all of my creative juices writing on my blog. And boy, are they flammable.

Bag Stranded is a collection of little short stories about events in my life, both past and present, that are mildly humorous and somewhat embarrassing for myself and my family. If you enjoy reading the stories of David Sedaris, you will most likely be upset when you read Bag Stranded, considering me a cheap knockoff of David Sedaris. But, since it is mine, I would still encourage you to check it out.

Go the dated links on the left side of the page and look over the titles. Choose one of interest to you and go to town. If you are suffering from a broken heart, you might want to check out my four part series “Breaking Up with Me is Not Hard to Do”. If you are a sports fan, you might want to venture over to “Way Beyond Thunderdome”. If you love to hate Facebook, try out “Social Science is Not a Science. And if you suffer from the burden of raising your children, take a load off and read “Rodentia Fina”. These are just a few suggestions, but I think you’ll like them. Well, maybe.

Anyway, thanks to Tabitha for letting me use her blog today and thanks to you if you decide to check Bag Stranded out. I am always looking for people to pity me.

It’s true, Bag Stranded is laced with something exotic and quickly becomes addictive. I’ll admit I’m a groupie. It’ll change your life–or at least make you feel better about it. Best of luck with the wedding, Tabitha!

I credit Bag Stranded for curing my warts. How you ask? Laughter is still the best medicine in my book. Oh, and take some bacon with you when you stroll over to Bag Stranded…you’ll thank me when it happens.
